Tiepoint TCI – Time Critical Intelligence

Tiepoint TCI is a modular, drone-integrated intelligence platform designed for rapid data collection, edge processing, and real-time geospatial analysis. Built for high-stakes operations, TCI enables immediate understanding and coordination across teams, providing decision-makers with actionable insights when timing and clarity matter most.

Portal for Data Processing and Analysis

The TCI platform includes a user-friendly portal where drone imagery can be uploaded and processed automatically. It generates maps with segmentation analysis to identify areas potentially or currently affected by a wide range of conditions or materials. Example applications include pollution detection, wildlife or human presence, terrain changes, marine debris concentration, and more.

Data is exported in KML, Shapefile, or other requested formats for integration into Common Operational Picture (COP) systems. Detections can be visualized as points or layers in a map view, and all processed results are served via a WMS server for convenient viewing or download. Image data storage follows defined retention and cost frameworks.

The process is fast — transforming raw drone data into structured, georeferenced intelligence in just minutes, regardless of use case.

Edge Unit for Real-Time Analysis

TCI includes an edge computing unit that performs real-time object detection and analysis. While commonly used to detect fauna such as birds and seals, the system is adaptable to virtually any object type — including people, vehicles, boats, infrastructure, equipment, or environmental indicators — depending on the operational need and dataset available.

Oil sheen detection models are pre-trained using open-source datasets and can be retrained quickly during live operations. Video clipping and real-time segmentation mapping is performed on board, and the platform is designed for future expansion, supporting custom AI models tailored to new detection types, industry-specific targets, or situational requirements.

Enhanced Mapping and Video Streaming

Operators benefit from real-time visualization of drone position and camera feed. TCI integrates with mobile networks to overlay other field units — such as cleanup teams, vehicles, or vessels — and supports AIS data. This shared view enhances coordination in time-critical scenarios, across land, sea, or urban environments.

The feature requires either local cellular coverage or deployment of supporting infrastructure.

Advanced Object and Material Detection

Tiepoint TCI’s object detection models are not limited to wildlife or oil. The platform can be trained to identify a wide variety of physical materials, surface types, and objects — from discarded waste or tar balls, to equipment, infrastructure, vessels, or personnel. This enables flexible mission design for industries ranging from environmental response and infrastructure to defense and logistics.

AI-Powered Oil Analysis Tools

For oil detection specifically, AI models analyze rainbow sheen and true color to classify slicks and determine their extent. Models can be rapidly retrained based on observed samples during field operations, and are processed directly on the edge unit for speed and independence from bandwidth limitations.

Automated Export of Georeferenced Data

TCI enables automated export of AI-analyzed, georeferenced data to external systems using open standard formats (e.g., KML, GeoJSON, vector datasets). This is critical for offshore and infrastructure scenarios where reference points are limited and edge capacity must be prioritized.

Supported workflows include 2D mapping using tools such as Pix4D React; manual classification informed by AI guidance; laser-based delineation; and stitching of NADIR images for classified mapping. All methods are evaluated through hands-on exercises, and pilots are trained via digital learning and live field operations.
